Please do not take any medication (hormone) on the day of your blood draw (you may take them after the blood draw if not too late in the day). If you are on injectable testosterone therapy, the optimal time for testing is 2-3 days after your weekly injection.

How much does BOTOX®, DYSPORT®, XEOMIN® cost?● Please call today to schedule a consult with Dr. Toney to determine pricing and a treatment plan specific to your needs. ● The price of the individual injectables varies and there may be specials in the office or through the companies that you can take advantage of. ● Joining Allergan Alle or Galderma Aspire rewards programs will save you money on the injections each time. These are free to join and the associates at the front desk of Atone MD can assist you in registering.

What are anticipated results from BOTOX®, DYSPORT®, XEOMIN®?● You should start to notice muscle relaxation about 3-5 days post injection. As this is a progressive process, the full effects won’t appear for about 2 weeks. It may take as long as a month for results to peak on areas with stronger muscles, particularly in men. ● At full correction, your skin will feel smoother and the muscle movements should not be able to crease the skin. If you can still cause wrinkling of the skin, it is important to receive additional units in the area by four weeks after the initial treatment so that all of the product wears off at a uniform rate. ● The results can vary from person to person depending on metabolism, activity level and immune system reactivity, but the effect generally tends to last about 3-4 months. ● At the 3-4 month period of time, the muscle movement gradually returns and the wrinkles and lines start to reappear. Over consistent use of the injectable in the same muscle group, usually within a year, the muscle begins toshrink and will not have the ability to fully squeeze the skin into a wrinkle any more. You must get retreated BEFORE the muscle regains movement in order to achieve this result. ● At this point, injections may last up to 4-6 months and the skin will have a non-creased appearance more permanently.

What to do before injections?DO NOT TAKE Aspirin/Ibuprofen/Advil/Naproxyn, St. John’s wort, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, drink tons of alcoholic beverages, OR use any other blood-thinning substances for 5x days before your treatment. (These are all anti-coagulators, and will increase likelihood of bruising and bleeding at the injection site.) If you are on a medical RX for a blood thinner, please check with the prescribing doctor before stopping it. DO NOT SCHEDULE your treatment within 3 weeks of any big-event. Anytime the skin is being broken, there is a chance for bruising or swelling. Please make sure to give your body plenty of healing time before an event just in case this occurs. DO tell us if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores. (We can prescribe a medication to minimize chance of a break-out). YOU CAN TAKE Arnica prior to or after your injections. This is a potent preventer of bruising and swelling and may be found over the counter at many health food stores.

Are there immediate side effects from BOTOX®, DYSPORT®, XEOMIN®?● You will experience slight redness or swelling at the injection sites that may last up to 20-30 minutes but you can go about your normal activities immediately after receiving treatment. ● You may also have slight bruising at the injection site, but shouldn’t be more than something that a little concealer can’t hide. ● Some may experience a headache especially after the first treatment. This should be mild and last only a few days, but if not, please let your provider know. ● If there are any other untoward side effects you experience, it is very important to let Dr. Toney know as soon as possible.

What to do after injections?DO Use cold compresses to reduce swelling or bruising, but...DO NOT Apply a lot of pressure when using your compress against your skin especially with new fillers. DO Avoid intense heat (sun lamp or sunbathing) for 4-6 hours after the injections. DO call the office and send pictures through the TOUCHMD portal if you have any concerns or signs of occlusion (pale, mottled or purple skin) or signs of infection (redness, swelling, pain or pus). DO Try to avoid touching the treated area for the first six hours following treatment. Dr. Toney will apply Vitamin K cream to the treated areas to help them to heal faster and to minimize bruising and swelling. You can use makeup or lipstick within the 6 hours after a treatment as long as there are no signs of swelling or bleeding. DO Make sure to stay hydrated and drink lots of water, this will help everything work to it’s full-capacity. DO For dermal-filler injections, try to add an extra-pillow before you go to bed. The elevation can help minimize swelling. For dermal-filler injections, try to avoid sleeping on your side for the first 3-4x days after treatment. (You do not want the weight of your head to potentially flatten any volume enhancement.) You will also want to avoid anything that compresses or stretches the treated area (ie. ski goggles, swim goggles, dental work or heavy pressure) for about 6 weeks after the filler is placed. DO NOT lie down for at least 4-hours after treatment with neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport or Xeomin. DO NOT engage in any activities that get you hot and sweaty around your facial area including hot tubs, steam or sauna, heavy exercise, super hot showers or hot yoga classes.

Who is BOTOX®, DYSPORT®, XEOMIN® for?● Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are safe for all skin types and skin colors. ● It is recommended that they be used only on persons over the age of 18 unless advised by a medical professional.
-
What does BOTOX®, DYSPORT®, XEOMIN® treatment feel like?● During the treatment, a very fine needle is injected into each specific muscle for a few seconds with the discomfort of a tiny pinch. For ultra-sensitive skin types, a topical anesthetic cream or ice can be applied beforehand if necessary. ● Each injection contains multiple units of toxin A so the number of injections is minimized as much as possible.
-
Post BOTOX®, DYSPORT®, XEOMIN® treatment recommendations● It is generally recommended to stay upright for at least 4-6 hours post injection in order to maintain the placement of the injectable. ● You will want to avoid any activities or positions that get a lot of blood flow to your treated areas (ie. exercise, sauna, steam room, massage, yoga poses or just laying down flat). This is so the injectable can be integrated into the desired muscle without being shifted anywhere it is not wanted. ● It is also advised to refrain from intense exercise activity for 24 hours after the injections. ● First timer, anyone? Take baby steps with these injectables to see how you react. Start with the lowest recommended amount. You can always add more, but you can’t undo a frozen expression. ● If you are relaxed too much, you may have to wait until the product begins to dissipate naturally which can take a couple of months. ● At the two week time frame after your injections, please check in with Dr. Toney if you have any concerns about the treatment results. ● Prior to that time, Dr. Toney generally does not recommend use of additional units as the effect may not be fully set in. (If you have used less than the recommended units of the standard treatment protocols, you may not have complete correction of the area even after the two weeks). ● In this case, more units will likely be needed to achieve the desired effect. Dr. Toney cannot guarantee any results, and the standard unit charge will apply for any additional units needed to achieve the result you desire. ● If there are any asymmetries or injection discrepancies, Dr. Toney may discuss a complimentary fix for you.
-
How long does BOTOX®, DYSPORT®, XEOMIN® take?15 to 20 minutes.
-
Recommended course for optimal results after BOTOX®, DYSPORT®, XEOMIN®● For optimal correction, there are established protocols with a minimum recommended number of units that have been studied to cause effect in certain areas. ● Dr. Toney will discuss this with you as you may need the protocol amount or more than the protocol amount depending on the location and severity of the wrinkles. ● It is advised to schedule touch-ups every 3-4 months for the first year as your muscles are being trained to relax. ● It is important to monitor your results closely and come in for re-treatment immediately upon return of slight muscle movement. ● If the muscles stay inactive and the skin is allowed to lay flat, for a consistent period of time, you will have a greater likelihood of achieving complete smoothing of the skin in the treated areas and being able to come in less often to re-treat. ● It is very unlikely that deep lines will completely disappear after the first treatment, even though the treatment is enough to paralyze the muscles. Deep lines resolve over consistent treatment sessions.
